Day 1: Bari
Saturday: Central Apulia
Arrival in Bari/Barletta and check-in at the hotel (check-in starts at 4:00 p.m.). Before dinner, meet with your guide. Welcome cocktail and presentation of the tour. Dinner and accommodation in a hotel in Bari/Barletta area or surroundings.
Day 2: Gargano
Sunday: Central Apulia - Trani - Barletta - Monte Sant’Angelo - Gargano
Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Trani, with a visit to the Cathedral overlooking the sea. Continue to Barletta for a stroll through the historic center, admiring key monuments such as the Norman-Swabian Castle, the Basilica-Cathedral of Santa Maria Maggiore, the Colossus (commonly known as “Heraclius”), and the “Challenge Wine Cellar.” Lunch included. Proceed to Monte Sant’Angelo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to visit the Sanctuary and the Cave of Saint Michael the Archangel. Arrival at the hotel in the Gargano area and dinner.
Day 3: Gargano
Monday: Gargano - Vieste - Foresta Umbra - Gargano
Breakfast at the hotel. Crossing the "Umbra Foresta", the largest deciduous forest in Italy and the heart of the Gargano National Park, you will reach Vieste, the most famous coastal town on the Gargano promontory. Lunch during the excursion. Visit the historic center, perched on the cliffs, followed by free time. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Cisternino
Tuesday: Gargano - San Giovanni Rotondo - Bari - Itria Valley
Breakfast at the hotel and departure for San Giovanni Rotondo, a pilgrimage site visited by devotees from all over the world. Explore the places where Saint Pio carried out his mission and left his legacy for over 50 years. Next, visit a local olive mill with a tasting of olive oil and the famous Altamura bread. Day 5: Cisternino
Wednesday: Itria Valley/Grutas de Castellana/ Alberobello/ Ostuni/ Itria Valley.
Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Grotte di Castellana and visit the grottoes. Arrival in Alberobello, the “capital of the trulli,” and walk through its monumental area declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Lunch. Departure to Ostuni, the “white city,” and walk through its picturesque historic center with a visit to its Romanesque-Gothic cathedral. Return to the hotel in the Valle de Itria area and have dinner.
Day 6: Cisternino
Thursday: Itria Valley/ Lecce/ Otranto/ Itria Valley
Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Lecce, the “Florence of the South” and capital of Pugliese baroque. Visit the historic center with the Basilica of Santa Croce, Piazza Duomo and Piazza San Oronzo. Small oil tasting. Lunch. In the afternoon, departure to Otranto to visit this city called the “Gate to the East” with its Romanesque Cathedral, the chapel of the tomb of the Holy Martyrs and the suggestive Crypt. Return to the hotel in the Valle de Itria area and enjoy dinner.
Day 7: Bari
Friday: Itria Valley/ Matera/ Apulia Central
Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Matera to visit the historic center, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO thanks to the famous “Sassi” neighborhoods and their small houses, wineries and churches largely excavated in the rock, with particular attention to the “Sassi” Barisano and Caveoso neighborhoods. Lunch and departure toward Bari or surroundings. Transfer to the central area of Apulia. Accommodation in the hotel in Bari/Barletta area or surroundings and dinner.
