Day 3: USHUAIA: TIERRA DEL FUEGO NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast at the hotel, embark on a half-day excursion to Tierra del Fuego National Park, the southernmost protected area in Argentina and the only one that combines both coastal and mountainous landscapes. The journey follows National Route No. 3, about 11 km southwest of Ushuaia, passing by scenic points such as Río Pipo, Monte Susana, Lago Acigami, the Alakush Visitor Center, Laguna Verde, and Bahía Lapataia, the symbolic endpoint of the Pan-American Highway. Along the way, you’ll have opportunities for photography and short walks, depending on weather conditions, to fully appreciate the park’s remarkable scenery of mountains, rivers, valleys, and lakes extending to the Beagle Channel coastline. Throughout the year, the park’s sub-Antarctic Forest offers a glimpse of native wildlife. Keep an eye out for the Fuegian red fox, and a rich variety of bird species such as the cachaña, giant woodpecker, rayadito, Patagonian thrush, and the cauquén caranca, emblematic of Tierra del Fuego National Park.

Overnight in Ushuaia.

Day 4: USHUAIA: LAGUNA ESMERALDA

After breakfast at the hotel, set out on an express trek to the spectacular Laguna Esmeralda. The route is approximately 10 km round-trip and is considered low difficulty, featuring mostly gentle slopes with a few slightly steeper sections, suitable for beginners and those seeking a relaxed mountain hike. Accompanied by professional mountain guides, you will pass through snowy forest and open viewpoints while learning about the local flora, fauna and geology.

Before departure, you will be provided with the necessary winter equipment; crampons and trekking poles are supplied when required to ensure secure footing on snow or ice. At the lagoon, enjoy a boxed lunch (packed sandwich and snack) on the shore while taking in the panoramic views of the frozen lagoon and surrounding peaks.

Please note: Weather and trail conditions can change quickly in Tierra del Fuego. Dress in layers, bring waterproof outerwear and sturdy boots; guides will adapt the route and safety measures as needed.

Overnight in Ushuaia.

Day 5: USHUAIA: PUERTO ALMANZA

Breakfast at the hotel. Depart from Ushuaia, heading northeast along National Route 3, following a scenic winding road surrounded by the Andes Mountains and lenga forests. The first stop will be at a winter center, followed by a visit to Chacra Ruca Kelleñ, a peaceful rural spot where you can enjoy the serenity and natural beauty of Tierra del Fuego.

Continue along Provincial Route J. toward Puerto Almanza, a small fishing village known for mussel farming and king crab fishing. This picturesque settlement was established for geopolitical reasons during the 1978 conflict with Chile over the Picton, Lennox, and Nueva Islands, due to its strategic location facing Puerto Williams, the southernmost town in the world.

Once there, you can choose between two optional activities:

Option 1: Take a semi-rigid boat ride to Isla Martillo, home to colonies of Magellanic and Gentoo penguins. The navigation lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and is subject to weather and operational conditions.

Option 2: Enjoy a guided walk along the Beagle Channel coast, exploring the local life and charm of Puerto Almanza at a leisurely pace.

After the activities, savor a delicious seafood lunch prepared by local fishermen, featuring the catch of the day, before returning to Ushuaia in the late afternoon.

Overnight in Ushuaia.

Day 6: USHUAIA DEPARTURE

After breakfast, check out from your hotel. At the scheduled time, a private transfer will take you from your hotel to Malvinas Argentinas International Airport for your departure flight. Take with you unforgettable memories of Ushuaia’s breathtaking landscapes and natural wonders.
