ITINERARY
(SATURDAY) DAY 01: IQUITOS - NAUTA - MARAÑON RIVER - NAUTA CAÑO
Airport pickup and transfer by private vehicle to the city of Nauta for boarding. A boxed lunch will be provided during the journey.
Our staff will escort you to your suite, specially equipped with all the comforts: comfortable beds, sheets of pure Peruvian pima cotton, cotton bathrobes, air conditioning, private bathroom with shower and amenities.
Before setting sail, our bartender will serve you a cocktail made with local fruits and pisco, Peru's most popular national spirit. Don't miss the opportunity to savor it while enjoying a 360-degree view from the observation deck or a panoramic view from the indoor or outdoor lounge.
Once we set sail, the naturalist guides will give us an overview of the trip's program, including activities, routes, information about wildlife and vegetation, geographical and historical background, and other useful details. If you have any questions, our guides will always be available to assist you.
After the welcome briefing, we will enjoy a delicious brunch and then have some time to rest before our next departure to Nauta Caño, where we will take a night excursion in search of caimans, tarantulas, frogs and other species that appear when the sun goes down.
Return to the ship and dinner on board. The menu offers several options, including a vegetarian alternative. Please let us know of any special dietary requirements in advance.
(SUNDAY) DAY 02: MARAÑÓN RIVER - YANAYACU DE PUCATE - SAN REGIS
Before breakfast we will invite guests to the third deck of the ship to observe the passage of migratory birds.
Then, we will begin our boat excursion to the Yanayacu area of Pucate, where we will appreciate one of the best preserved and protected areas of the Pacaya Samiria reserve, and where we will have our picnic breakfast.
Before returning to the boat, those who wish can take a kayak trip. We'll experience firsthand what it's like to be in the river's dark waters and can even enjoy a swim.
Back on the boat, our bartender will be waiting with a Peruvian cocktail demonstration, followed by lunch. After some time to relax, the guides will give us a talk on Amazonian philosophy.
In the afternoon, we will visit the indigenous community of San Regis, where we will learn about their way of life and traditions. We will also learn some of their ancestral traditions from the community's shaman.
Our guides will act as interpreters during this experience, giving us the opportunity to ask questions about spiritual connections and their ability to heal the soul. After this experience, we will continue with a tree-planting ceremony as a positive contribution to the environment. There, we will also see the women of the community displaying their handmade pieces and objects in a small craft market.
Back on the ship we'll have time to rest and relax with live music while we kill time before dinner.
(MONDAY) DAY 03: MARAÑÓN RIVER - AMAZON NATURAL PARK - NAHUAPA RIVER
After breakfast we will begin a hike through the jungle to reach the hanging bridges, which will allow us to admire the richness of the jungle from the top of the trees.
At midday, we will return to the boat for lunch on board, after which you will have some free time. It is important that you attend the talk about the endangered animals in the area.
In the afternoon, we'll begin our boat exploration on the Nahuapa River. There, we'll look for a spot to fish for the famous piranhas, using local equipment and techniques.
Before returning to the Zafiro, we will take a night excursion in search of caimans, tarantulas, frogs, and other nocturnal species.
Return to the Zafiro, live music and dinner.
(TUESDAY) DAY 04: MARAÑON RIVER - CASUAL - AMAZON RIVER
After breakfast, we'll begin a hike in Casual, searching for wildlife such as poison dart frogs and other exotic species. In this area, we'll see the well-known giant trees called Avatar trees and the Victoria amazonica, also known as Victoria Regia, the largest aquatic plant on the planet. We'll also see the women of the community displaying their handmade crafts and objects in a small artisan market.
Before noon we will return to the ship where a cooking demonstration will be given by the executive chef.
After lunch, don't miss the talk about the origin of the Amazon, followed by an excursion to the confluence of the Ucayali and Marañón rivers, where these two rivers meet to form the Amazon River. This area is very popular for observing the curious pink river dolphins.
Return and free time until dinner.
(WEDNESDAY) DAY 05: MARAÑÓN RIVER - NAUTA - FLORIDA COMMUNAL RESERVE - PAHUASHIRO - YACAPANA
Before breakfast, we'll visit Nauta, the second largest city in the region. Upon arrival, we'll take a motorbike taxi to the local market, where we'll experience firsthand the city's commercial life.
Return to the Zafiro for breakfast. After breakfast, we'll be ready to begin a new excursion: a hike in the Florida Community Reserve, searching for wildlife such as frogs, birds, and other exotic species. In this area, we'll see the renowned mahogany trees.
We will continue by boat to the Pahuachiro area.
At midday we will offer lunch and afterwards you will have time to rest before starting the afternoon activity, a boat trip to explore the Yacapana area and its wildlife.
Back at Zafiro, we can enjoy the wonderful light and the unique colors that unfold in the sky of these latitudes during sunset.
Return and free time until dinner.
(THURSDAY) DAY 06: AMAZONAS RIVER - SAN JOAQUIN DE OMAGUAS - YARAPA RIVER - UCAYALI RIVER
At dawn, before breakfast, we will set out by boat to explore the Amazon River, where we will observe the daily activities that each community carries out on the riverbanks.
Back on the ship you can enjoy our breakfast buffet, which offers a daily selection of traditional dishes, Peruvian specialties, freshly baked homemade products and a variety of freshly prepared juices.
After breakfast we will begin a boat excursion to explore the blackwater Yarapa River in search of wildlife.
Return to the boat for lunch. Before the afternoon activity, the guides will give a talk about the local culture.
In the afternoon, we will visit the community of Paranapura, where we will appreciate how they live and learn about their customs, always with the help of our guides, who will act as interpreters for us.
Towards sunset, we will go in search of animals that can only be seen when the sun goes down: caimans, bats, frogs, tarantulas and other species that populate the lush forest of our jungle.
Before dinner you can enjoy live music by the onboard band, which will play a varied repertoire of Amazonian, national and international music.
(FRIDAY) DAY 07: YARAPA DEL UCAYALI - YUCURUCHI - AMAZON RIVER
Before breakfast, we will begin a boat excursion, but this time on the Yarapa River, in search of new, impressive landscapes and more emblematic species of the Amazon.
Return to the Zafiro for breakfast. After breakfast, we will begin a hike in Yucuruchi, the Ucayali River area, located in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, where we will see numerous species of native animals and the "Victoria Amazonica," also known as Victoria Regia, the largest aquatic plant on the planet.
Return to the boat. At midday, we will serve lunch, followed by some free time before embarking on the afternoon activity: a boat excursion on the Amazon River in search of the curious pink dolphins and other species. Before returning to the boat, we will be able to appreciate the colors of the Amazonian sunset.
Back on the ship we'll have time to rest and relax with live music while we wait for the crew introduction and farewell dinner.
(SATURDAY) DAY 08: DISEMBARKATION AT THE PORT OF NAUTA
After breakfast, we will disembark. On the way to the airport, we will visit the River Mammal Rescue and Rehabilitation Center (Amazon Forever Organization), where biologists and volunteers care for manatees, an endangered species rescued by the authorities.
We will learn how manatees are treated and prepared for their reintroduction to their natural habitat. We will also see other rescued animals. Jungle Experiences actively collaborates with this organization and research center. We invite you to join us and contribute to this worthy cause.
