DAY 01: IQUITOS – CUMACEBA AMAZON LODGE – FUNDO PEDRITO – JUNGLE WALK
Transfer from the airport or hotel to tour Iquitos' historic center, visiting landmarks such as the Iron House (Casa de Hierro) and the Palace Hotel. Afterward, we will navigate the Itaya and Amazon rivers, enjoying a panoramic view of the Nanay Bridge—the largest in Peru. We will visit Fundo Pedrito to observe *paiche* fish, caimans, and the *Victoria regia* water lily. Upon arrival at Cumaceba Ecolodge, cabins will be assigned, and a traditional lunch will be served. In the afternoon, we will take a jungle walk to explore the local flora and fauna. After dinner, we will enjoy a canoe ride on Shansho Lagoon to spot small caimans and listen to Amazonian tales.
DAY 02: AMAZON FISHING – DOLPHIN SPOTTING
We begin with a sunrise walk for birdwatching. After breakfast, we will engage in recreational fishing for piranhas and other species. Following lunch, we will search for gray and pink dolphins, concluding with a stunning sunset. At night, we will take a walk to enjoy the sounds of the jungle and spot nocturnal wildlife.
DAY 03: MONKEY ISLAND – RIVERSIDE VILLAGE
In the morning, we will take a canoe ride on Shansho Lagoon to spot birds, including the colorful *Shansho* (or Hoatzin). After breakfast, we will visit Monkey Island, home to endangered species such as the howler monkey and the spider monkey. In the afternoon, we will explore the village of Pantoja to learn about the local lifestyle. At night, we will take a canoe ride on the Amazon River to enjoy the sounds of the night.
DAY 04: FULL-DAY EXCURSION: RÍO NEGRO – YANAYACU
Breakfast. A full-day excursion to the Río Negro and Yanayacu areas, featuring breathtaking landscapes and the opportunity to interact with local communities. We will observe endemic birds, go recreational fishing, and taste fried piranha. There will also be time for a jungle walk—perfect for photography. We will return to the lodge for lunch and to enjoy the sunset, with the option to repeat a night excursion.
DAY 05: BUTTERFLY FARM – RETURN TO IQUITOS
Breakfast. A boat visit to the butterfly farm, where we will learn about their life cycle, with a focus on the Morpho species. After lunch at the lodge, we will return to Iquitos, with a transfer to the airport or hotel.
